Day 1
Arrival Kuching
Meet
on arrival at Kuching International Airport,
transfer to hotel. PM: proceed on a half day
City Tour of Kuching with visits to Fort
Margherita- a 17th century defense
against sea pirates. the Court House, the Post
Office, the Pavilion, the Square Tower, the
Round Tower, Satok Suspension Bridge, the Cat
Monument and Malay villages. Return to hotel.
Overnight.
Day 2
Kuching- Skrang River
Depart
for Skrang River Safari. The overland journey
takes 232 km from Kuching passing padi fields,
rubber plantations, pepper orchards, small farm
houses, villages, small towns, lush secondary
and virgin jungles. Arrive Pais, board a native
motorized longboat for the last stretch of the
journey along the scenic Skrang River with the
added excitement of ‘shooting the rapids’
during dry season when the river is extremely
low. Arrive at Bunu Longhouse, The highlight of
the tour is an evening with the natives who will
perform traditional dances to the beat of gongs
and drums. Join them in the dance and try the
ituaki (home-brewed rice wine). Overnight at
guest-house. (B)
Day 3
Skrang River- Kuching
Explore
for a short jungle trek accompanied by
scantily-clad Ibans with blowpipe. After a taste
of the adventure return to Kuching. Overnight.

Day 4
Kuching- Semonggok- Matang Wildlife
Depart
for a half day visit to Orang Utan Wildlife
Centre at Semonggok or Matang. Overnight. (B)
Semonggok:
a one-half hour’s walk on wooden plankwalks
through the beautiful rain-forest to the Orang
Utan Rehabilitation Centre. The sanctuary is for
Orang Utans rescued from captivity. They would
be carefully nurtured and rehabilitated until
eventual release into the jungle. Feeding times
are at 08:30 am and 3:00 pm daily.
Matang:
about 45 minutes drive away from the city. It
houses not only Orang Utans but some honey
bears, hornbill, gibbons, eagles, storks and
barking deer. Return to hotel.
Day 5
Kuching
Transfer
to the airport. End of tour. (B)
