Day
1 Kota Kinabalu
On arrival, transfer to your hotel. At
sunset, drive up to Signal Hill for a bird's eye
view of the city. Visit the colourful local
night market before we go for a scrumptious
dinner. (D)
Day 2 Gaya-Sapi Islands
After breakfast, transfer to jetty for a
half hour boat ride to Gaya Island . Put on your
walking shoes and explore one of the jungle
trails (45 minutes) among lowland rainforest,
mangrove swamp and identify some unique floras
and faunas. Transfer five minutes to Sapi Island
for picnic lunch. Free at leisure to swim,
snorkel or scuba dive before we transfer back to
mainland and hotel. (BL)
Day 3 Kinabalu World Heritage Site - Poring
Drive 2 hours overland (88 km) through padi-fields
and Dusun villages over the ridges of the
Crocker Range to the foothills of Mt. Kinabalu
at 5,000ft, to arrive at the park headquarters
at Kundasang. Visit the Visitor Centre and
Mountain Garden; home to some of the 24 species
of flowering rhododendrons, 10 species of
carnivorous pitcher plants, estimated 1,400
species of orchids, over 600 species of ferns,
more than 40 species of oak trees and over 300
species of birds.
Continue 40 km journey to Poring. Explore
tropical rainforest among the jungle trail
leading to the treetop canopy walkways suspended
41 meters above the forest floor before
returning to sea-level. (BL)
Day 4 Sandakan/Selingan
Transfer to airport for morning flight
MH2042 ETD0700hrs. Arrive Sandakan ETA0740, meet
and transfer to jetty for 45 minutes boat ride
to Selingan Island by speed boat (225HP). Check
into chalet (twin room). Free at leisure to swim
and snorkel. At night, wait for Park Ranger to
signal for the visitors to watch green turtles
lay eggs on the beach, transplanting of the eggs
to the hatchery and the release of the baby
turtles to the sea. Overnight in twin sharing

prohibited from 6pm – 6am

Day 5 Sepilok/Sukau
Return to Sandakan by boat and proceed to
Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. Trek
ten minutes through the rainforest on wooden
plankwalks to witness the feeding of the orang
utans at 10.00am. Continue to Sandakan jetty for
an estimated 2 hours boat journey to Sukau
Rainforest Lodge along Sabah's longest river,
Kinabantangan with opportunity to view birds and
wildlifes in virgin mangrove, wetland and
rainforest habitats. Late afternoon take a two
hours river cruise using electric motor in
search of some of the 10 primate species
including Proboscis monkeys as they settle down
on treetops along the Kinabatangan River. Return
for solar heated hot shower, candle light dinner
and slide show conducted by naturalist guide.

Day 6 Sukau
Wake up to the calls of gibbons and
hornbills. A 6.00 am morning river cruise up the
Kinabatangan River to view more birds and
wildlifes. Proceed to the Kelenanap ox-bow lake
for a short jungle walk (if weather permits).
Experience the wilderness of Borneo. You have
the option to participate in our conservation
project by planting trees at our 64 acres
adopted land. In the afternoon, we proceed for
another river cruise for more wildlifes. After
dinner an optional night safari cruise spotting
nocturnal animals, crocodiles and birds.

Day 7 Sukau/Gomantong
After breakfast, take a short tour to Sukau
Village by boat and proceed 27 km overland to
Gomantong Caves. Trek 20 minutes through the
rainforest to the cave entrance. Your guide will
brief you on the cave faunas including bats,
swiftlets and crabs among others and their
contribution to maintaining a balanced ecology
and significance to the local economy. When in
season, witness the collecting of birds' nests
by the local people using bamboo ladders and
poles.
Continue to Sandakan for lunch before a short
tour of the town including a tea break in one of
the houses on the water village and the
Australian War Memorial before transfer to
airport for flight MH2065 at 5.20pm to Kota
Kinabalu. (BL)
