Victoria Falls and The Caprivi Strip

 9 Days Tour

TOUR CODE:AA631

Namibia’s Caprivi Strip is an oddity and not what you would expect in a country comprised mainly of desert landscape. However, here you will explore channels of crystal-clear water, and stay in island lodges that match any in Africa. The Strip is home to a huge variety of wildlife.

Day 1:

On arrival at Victoria Falls Airport, you will be met and transferred to Ilala Lodge for one nights accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis.

Ilala Lodge is the closest hotel to the Victoria Falls and is located next to the Zambezi National Park.  It is a small intimate hotel that ensures a special, personalised atmosphere.  Each room has air conditioning, and an en suite bathroom.  There is a pool, bar and a charming restaurant that offers both indoor and outdoor seating.

Day 2:

Transfer from Ilala Lodge back to Victoria Falls Airport.  Here, you will be met by an Impalila Island Lodge representative and transferred by light aircraft to Impalila Island Lodge, where you will spend 3 nights on a full board basis, including activities. This wonderfully scenic flight includes a Flight of Angels over the magnificent Victoria Falls (weather permitting).  Clients must please remain in transit at the airport and not clear customs into Victoria Falls.

Impalila Island Lodge is a 16-bedded luxury lodge with much to offer discerning clients.  Our island is situated at the confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi rivers at the place where 4 countries meet - from the air an amazing mosaic of waterways, floodplains and bushveld - on the ground exceptional birdlife, game viewing and assorted vegetation - and in the waters outstanding fishing opportunities.  We are Namibian - enjoying close contact with Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana.   At Impalila Island Lodge we believe that guests should be able to choose how they spend their leisure time.  Apart from our luxurious accommodation and culinary delights we offer them a wide variety of activities... a sunset game cruise on the Chobe river, fly-fishing the Mambova rapids for the rapacious Tigerfish or bream, guided walks on the island including visits to cultural villages and a 2000 year-old baobab from where the meeting of all 4 countries and 2 rivers can be witnessed, mokoro (dugout canoe) trips in the quiet backwaters, or just pampered relaxation.

Day 3 & 4:

At leisure at Impalila Island Lodge, enjoying a wide variety of activities the lodge has to offer.

Day 5:

Early morning charter flight transfer to Susuwe Island Lodge, where you will spend 3 nights on a full board

basis, including activities.

You could wait a lifetime to experience closely a truly wild and untouched island of Africa.  Susuwe Island Lodge offers just this:- remotely situated in the Kwando River – a permanent water source which nourishes delicate ecosystems and sustains varied game and birdlife.  Susuwe Island Lodge is built to incorporate the riverine forest – the main complex has lofty canopy viewing decks overlooking endless savannahs, glistening lily-studded wetlands and ancient Kalahari woodlands.  A firepit, spacious lounge areas, curio shop, your relaxation, privacy and comfort are paramount at Susuwe.  Fresh Al Fresco cuisine tempts the most jaded pallet and any dietary requirements are catered for.  Six spacious suites equipped with double bathroom, bedroom, lounge and wooden platform each with private plunge pool offer guests the opportunity to merge unhurriedly with Africa’s timeless evolution of hazy days and star-studded nights.  Gamedrives in open 4x4 vehicle within the Bwabwata National Park, may be rewarded with special sightings of vast herds of roaming elephant and buffalo; lechwe, lion and leopard.  A river cruise is preferable at sunset or sunrise and guided walks and night drives offer an even closer insight into the intrigue of the African bush.
