Day
1 & 2:
On
arrival at Victoria Falls Airport,
you will be met and transferred
across the border into Zambia to the
River Club for two nights
accommodation on a full board basis
including lodge activities and all
local drinks.
The
River Club is situated on the
Zambian side of the Zambezi River,
18 kilometres upstream from Victoria
Falls. The camp has a distinct
Edwardian flavour, and guests here
enjoy the sights and sounds of
Victoria Falls and the Zambezi River
in a peaceful and tranquil setting
away from the crowds. Ten luxury,
thatched chalets overlook the
Zambezi River, and have en-suite
facilities including a bath, shower,
toilet and basin. All the rooms have
fans. The rooms are all completely
open in the front giving guests the
best possible views of the Zambezi.
The main dining room, lounge, and
pub area also has an interesting
library. The Victoria Falls is one
of the 7 Wonders of the World and is
arguably the greatest waterfall in
the world. Daily trips to the Falls
are a highlight. Boating to the
Zambezi River’s islands provides
relaxed afternoon activities, and
fishing and sundowner trips are
offered. The Zambezi National Park
is located just across the river,
and lion calls can often be heard at
night. A rich bird life is found in
the area. Hippos are regularly
sighted (and heard) along the
river’s edge.
Day
3 & 4:
Transfer
from the River Club to Livingstone
Airport for your light aircraft
transfer to Kasane Airport in
Northern Botswana. On arrival, you
will be met and assisted onto your
light aircraft transfer to DumaTau
in the Linyanti for two nights
accommodation on a full board basis
including daily activities and all
local drinks.
DumaTau
is a 8-roomed luxury tented camp, in
a private 125 000 hectare Linyanti
Wildlife Reserve which borders onto
the western boundary of Chobe
National Park in northern Botswana.
The camp is built under a
shady grove of mangosteen trees,
overlooking a large hippo-filled
lagoon within the Linyanti waterway
system. The source of the Savuti
Channel is close to the camp and
game drives up the Savuti is one of
the highlights of the area. The
rooms are raised off the ground and
are under thatch with canvas walls,
allowing guests to enjoy the night
sounds of Africa from the comfort of
their beds. The bathroom facilities
are en-suite and each room has an
additional outside shower. There is
a dining room, pub, lounge, plunge
pool and a guest toilet with a
fantastic view. The region has all
the habitat diversity to make it a
haven for wildlife. Activities are
diverse and allow guests time on the
water, on land and on foot.
Day and night game drives are
conducted in open 4x4 vehicles along
the Savuti Channel and the banks of
Linyanti River. There are many hides
in the area where guests can enjoy
wildlife viewing away from a
vehicle. One of the best is right at
the source of the Savuti and many
species of game and birdlife can
usually be enjoyed from this hide.
The area is famous for its Elephant.
Huge herds congregate in winter
along the waterways and lagoons. During these dry months Sable and Roan traverse the flood
plains, along with Impala, Zebra,
Giraffe, Wildebeest, Lechwe,
Tsessebe and other plains game in
the area.
Day
5 & 6:
Light
aircraft transfer from DumaTau to
Vumbura for two nights accommodation
on a full board basis including
daily activities and all local
drinks.
Vumbura
(pronounced Vuumbera) is an
eight-roomed luxury tented camp
situated to the north of Mombo, in a
private concession bordering the
Moremi Game Reserve in the extreme
north of the Okavango Delta.
Vumbura offers both water and
land activities. Mekoros (dug-out
canoes) traverse the flood plains
under the guidance of polers from
the BaYei tribe, who have been using
mekoros as their traditional form of
transport for hundreds of years.
Boats take guests onto the
larger and deeper areas of water
(water levels permitting). Open 4x4
Land Rovers allow close proximity to
animals in the savannah areas.
This is possibly the only
area in the Okavango where one can
see Red Lechwe from a mokoro in the
morning, then a Sable antelope from
a game vehicle in the afternoon. Add in Lion, Leopard, Elephant and Buffalo along with all the
plains game, and one has an
excellent all round game experience
in a remote corner of the Okavango.
Walks on the islands give guests the
opportunity to enjoy Africa from a
different perspective. Each one of
the rooms has en-suite facilities
with hot and cold running water, a
shower, and flush toilets. Each room
has an outdoor shower under the
stars!
The main dining, lounge and
pub area is tucked beneath a canopy
of indigenous trees with a superb
view across the floodplain.
The camp has a plunge pool.
Access into this area is only by
aircraft and then by vehicle to
camp. if the waters are high in
winter, we may have to access the
camp by mokoros or boat.
Day
7 & 8:
Light
aircraft transfer from Vumbura to
Chitabe for two nights accommodation
on a full board basis including
daily activities and all local
drinks.
Chitabe
is a luxurious 8-roomed, tented camp
built on one of the most beautiful
islands in the Okavango Delta, in a
private area that is bordered on
three sides by the Moremi Game
Reserve.
The area is surrounded by
waterways and lagoons that harbours
a wonderful variety of wildlife.
Accommodation consists of
eight spacious East African style
tents that are built on elevated
wooden decks, beneath the lush tree
canopy.
Each tented room has en-suite
facilities with flush toilets, and a
shower and basin with hot and cold
running water.
The thatched dining area,
lounge and pub are also raised on
decks overlooking the surrounding
flood plains.
A pool allows guests to cool
off from the heat of the day.
Activities consist of day and night
game drives in open 4x4 vehicles
accompanied by an experienced guide.
Shorter nature walks are
sometimes offered. Game viewing is
good, and includes Buffalo,
Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Reedbuck,
Lechwe, Impala, Zebra and Hippo.
Wild dogs are also sometimes
sighted. Night drives can be very
rewarding with good sightings of the
rarer nocturnal animals. Access into
this area is only by aircraft.
