Encounters on Water

 8 Days Tour

TOUR CODE: AA672

Day 1:
On arrival at Victoria Falls Airport, you will be met and transferred to Ilala Lodge for overnight accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis.

Ilala Lodge is the closest hotel to the Victoria Falls and is located next to the Zambezi National Park.  It is a small intimate hotel that ensures a special, personalised atmosphere.  Each room has air conditioning, and an en suite bathroom.  There is a pool, bar and a charming restaurant that offers both indoor and outdoor seating.

Days 2 & 3:

Transfer from Ilala Lodge back to Victoria Falls Airport for your light aircraft transfer to Lake Kariba where you will be met and transferred by road and boat to Matusadona Water Wilderness for two nights accommodation on a full board basis including daily activities and all local drinks.

Matusadona Water Wilderness is a floating safari camp situated just off the shoreline of Lake Kariba, within Matusadona National Park in northern Zimbabwe. The camp consists of unique floating chalets, moored in a secluded bay. Accommodation is in twin bedded rooms each with en-suite flush toilet and shower. Each of the chalets has its own cool verandah with a superb view of the park. Game is often seen from the rooms. The mother craft houses the central bar, lounge and dining area. Access between the chalets and the main area is by pontoon. Game viewing is excellent in this area, where the fluctuating lake levels have resulted in a grassland around the lake shore, which attracts large herds of antelope, Elephant, Buffalo and a host of predators. Black Rhino are found in the forested areas. Boating, canoeing, game drives in 4x4 vehicles and walking with a licensed guide, gives guests the complete wildlife experience of the area.

Days 4, 5 & 6:

Light aircraft transfer from Lake Kariba, Kariba to Mana Pools for the start of the Mana Canoe Trail – 3 nights accommodation on a full board basis including daily activities.

Day 1              At approximately 2.00 pm, after meeting the guide and listening to a thorough safety briefing, the guests leave the Ruckomechi area in their Canadian canoes and paddle downstream to our mobile camp in the Mana Pools National Park. The camp will have already been set up in advance.

Day 2 & 3       Guests are awakened at approximately 0545 hours, with tea/coffee and biscuits and set out on a game walk, returning for a full English breakfast at about 0830 hours. (Alternatively they may start the canoeing while the waters are their calmest and then have a brunch downstream – followed by a walk.) After breakfast the guests set off in their canoes with a packed lunch and drinks in cooler boxes.  A stop is made for a picnic lunch around 1300 hours and the group will rest up until about 1500 hours.

Day 4:
